MCC is delighted to confirm dates for all minor matches taking place on the Main Ground at Lord’s in 2023.
There is another packed schedule of matches to enjoy this summer at the Home of Cricket, with the action spanning six months of the year.
For the first time, Lord’s will host the ECB Junior National Club Championship Finals on Saturday 2 September, giving boys and girls from the Under-13 and Under-15 competitions the chance to battle it out and win the ultimate reward of walking out to play at Lord’s. The following week, on Friday 8 September, the MCC Schools v English Schools Cricket Association (ESCA) fixture returns to the Main Ground, a match which in the past has seen several young players progress to represent their country.
On Saturday 29 July, we will host the MCC Foundation National Hubs Final as 77 Hubs competing around the country aim to make it all the way to the final. Last year, Newcastle beat Nottingham to win the Under-15 Boys Final, while Bolton overcame Guildford in final over of the Under-15 Girls Final.
The UK Armed Forces Twenty20 Cricket Day will see the Army, the RAF and the Royal Navy face each other on Wednesday 10 May, before we welcome a double-header men’s and women’s fixture between Oxford University and Cambridge University the following day. The week will end with Eton looking to exact revenge for their 86-run defeat to Harrow in 2022.
MCC Women’s Day will take place on Friday 14 July and as in previous years, this day will see several women’s matches will take place on the Main Ground. Amongst the highlights of last year’s day was Naomi Dattani’s stunning century for Sunrisers against an MCC Invitational XI, which included England’s Sarah Glenn.
In between the two Ashes encounters at the Ground this summer, MCC will play Melbourne Cricket Club in the 17th MCC v MCC match on Monday 3 July. This regularly takes place after the England v Australia Men’s Test either at Lord’s or the MCG.
Our minor match schedule concludes with two more finals days in September as we host the Voneus Village Cup Final on Sunday 3 September and the ECB Club Championship Final on Saturday 9 September.
With the 2023 international fixtures, and Middlesex and Sunrisers’ fixtures already announced for the coming season, the full Lord’s fixture list is now almost complete, as we await only confirmation of The Hundred fixtures.
