J.E. Root 113* v IndiaBack to boards

Joe Root scored his first one-day century at Lord’s, when he hit an unbeaten 113 during England’s victory over India in the second one-day international of the series.

With England winning the toss and deciding to bat, Root – batting at three – was called to the crease with his side 69-1 following the dismissal of Jonny Bairstow.

Root showed his class throughout his 116-ball innings, which included eight fours and a six.

The Yorkshire batsman’s knock led England to a solid score of 322-7 after their 50 overs.

In response, India could only manage 236 all out as Root’s man-of-the-match display guided England to a comfortable 86-run victory.
