One of the partnership highlights will be the award of an Oris watch to cricketers whose names are added to the famous Lord’s Honours Boards alongside some of the greatest names ever to play the game.
The Oris brand will appear on the clocktower that sits on the Mound Stand under the iconic Father Time weathervane, which was first installed in 1926 and is now one of the most familiar landmarks in world cricket. Oris will also be seen on the Ground’s scoreboard.
Rolf Studer, Oris Co-CEO, said: “This is a watershed moment in the history of MCC, Lord’s and Oris. For cricket fans around the world, Lord’s is hallowed ground and the undisputed Home of Cricket. Lord’s brings people together and makes people smile, which is hugely important to us.
“So we’re thrilled to be partnering with MCC, which shares Oris’s values of excellence, forward-thinking tradition and doing the right thing. Like Oris, MCC is aligned with the United Nations’ Agenda for Sustainable Development.
“MCC has been at the heart of the movement to grow the great game of cricket in the UK and globally for more than 230 years. We’re excited to see the Oris name associated with MCC and Lord’s and look forward to timing cricketing history this summer and beyond.”
The award of an Oris watch to players whose names are added to the Lord’s Honours Boards will create particularly special moments. Players receive this coveted honour if they score a century or take five wickets in an innings or 10 wickets in a match, across all international Tests and Limited Overs matches played at the ground.
The boards, which are found in the twin-turreted Lord’s Pavilion’s “home” and “away" dressing rooms, are peppered with the greatest names in the history of the sport, including batters such as Sourav Ganguly and Graham Gooch, and bowlers such as Anya Shrubsole and England’s all-time leading wicket-taker James Anderson.
MCC is recognised around the world for its unique role in shaping the game of cricket. The Club was founded in 1787 and is the sole authority on the laws of the game. Today, it has around 18,350 Members and 5,500 Associate Members. On match days and beyond, members are often seen sporting their famous red and yellow ties and jackets, a colour scheme affectionately known as “egg and bacon”.
Guy Lavender, MCC Chief Executive & Secretary, said: “This is the first time in our more than 230-year history that MCC has welcomed an Official Timekeeper to Lord’s Cricket Ground. This is a historic partnership for the Club and the Ground, and we look forward to recording great moments in time together with Oris
