In partnership with Middlesex County Cricket Club, MCC’s Community Department hosted state secondary schools to take part in School Engagement Day, an annual event held during a Championship match at Lord’s. Throughout the rain-affected day’s play, children cheered loudly from the stands and enjoyed the Lord’s experience, despite the damp conditions.
Aged between 5 and 15, there were various activities available, with cricket coaching stations in the MCC Cricket Academy and on the Nursery Ground, as well as Pinky’s Pavilion. The children also had the opportunity to have their photo taken with the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, which England won against India at Lord’s in 2017.
Celebrating their 30th anniversary, the London Air Ambulance charity were also at the ground with their Helivan. The inside of the van is a replica of the interior of London’s Air Ambulance aircraft, used to educate the children about the life-saving service.
